Managing Digestive Disorders

My name is Lilith Maclin and if you suffer from a digestive disorder, you can find a wealth of information about this type of medical condition in my blog. Three years ago, my husband was having severe stomach cramps and his doctor told him that he had a digestive disorder called ulcerative colitis. After my husband was diagnosed, I did thorough research to learn how to control and manage this disorder. We kept track of everything that my husband ate and when a certain food caused a flare-up of his condition, he eliminated that food from his diet. By learning all we could about this digestive disorder, my husband has been able to live pain free. If you want more information about this disorder and how to manage it, you can find it here by reading my blog.

Making Your Home Fit Your Disability

Louella Davidson

When you have a disability that makes it difficult for you to get around the way you once did, then you should make some changes to accommodate your condition. Focus on turning your home into a safer place where you can still enjoy the day to day things you used to take for granted. This article will give you some great tips on how you can go about accomplishing this.

Install grab bars in dangerous or awkward places

Think of all the places around your home where you have a hard time getting up from a chair or moving around certain walls. You can have grab bars installed in these places to make it easier and safer for you to move about. It's also a very good idea to have them installed near bathtubs, showers and toilets, especially since the bathroom can be such a dangerous place due to possibly wet floors and smaller spaces.

Have your toilet replaced with a toilet/bidet

As you start to experience more problems with your flexibility, even wiping after you use the restroom can be a challenge. Since good hygiene is so important, you should make the necessary accommodations to ensure you get properly cleaned. A toilet/bidet combo won't take up more room in the bathroom than a regular toilet. It will spray a stream of water to clean you and you can control the temperature and the alignment of the stream.

Have ramps built where you have steps

Having ramps built where you have steps leading up to the entrances to your house, or anywhere else can help prevent falls and make getting up the stairs much easier on you. Also, if you get to the point where you start counting more and more on a cane, walker or wheelchair then you will be extremely grateful for those ramps.

Have a stair lift installed in your home

When you already have a hard time getting around, making it up and down the stairs in your house can be painful, frustrating and even dangerous. Having a stair glide stair lift installed will give you a way to go back and forth from the floors of your home in a much easier and safer way. The stair lift has a seat for you to sit on and a control that allows you to take it from the floor you are on to the other floor.

Implementing these changes is a good way for you to get your home set up in a way that is very catering to your physical condition.
